Dzukou Valley, on the border of Nagaland and Manipur, is a lesser-known pocket of heaven for trekkers and wanderers seeking seclusion in nature. Dzukou Valley, at 2438 metres above sea level and behind the second highest peak in Nagaland, is thought to have gained its name from its namesake river, which meaning ‘cold waters.’

The lovely scenery provides a panoramic view of gentle undulating hills that is sure to enchant visitors. The entire valley is carpeted with flowers during the rainy season, giving it a unique appeal. The walk offers rich green landscapes dotted with a diverse range of flora, as well as the company of the meandering twin rivers of Dzukou and Japfu, which guarantee a sense of solitude and tranquilly.

For the duration of this adventure, you will be staying in guesthouses or in lodges, on a sharing basis Starting from day 1 to day 5.

  • This package has a quad sharing basis as the default room sharing.
  • Upgrade costs: (a) Triple Sharing: INR 500 per person, (b) Double Sharing: INR 1000 per person.

We’ll provide Non Veg / Veg meals on all days of the trip.

By booking, you’re acknowledging the following guidelines of Desi Nomadz:

one must also follow some basic guidelines laid down by us so that the trek execution is smooth and easy. Here are few of the guidelines that are mandatory while you enroll for the trek

P.s -Though the list is exhaustive, we may add or remove some norms if required which will be informed prior to the start of the trek.

The more earlier your decide to go more easier it gets- As the trek traverses to arduous regions with no connectivity as such , home stays bookings need to be booked advanced many weeks back, also availability is another hurdle so its better to book in advance .Same goes for fooding. Desinomadz won’t  take last minute requests for enrollment for an ongoing batch.

Pack what’s necessary– Pack only what’s necessary. You would require to climb steep inclines and declines along the trek and needless to say a lighter baggage would go along way for a delightful trek. Pack what’s necessary only , avoid taking more baggage’s ,it will wear you down badly. If you are unsure what to take and what not to take we will be happy to help you for recommendation. Also we would share a list of items that need to mandatorily taken for the trek.

Fooding– Prior to the start of trek we would be sharing the day to day menu for the entire trek. It would contain nutritious and light food that would keep you pepped up for the trek. The food won’t be over the the top level but will be sumptuous and locally prepared. Any extra food except what is there in the menu shared beforehand would be chargeable . You need to carry water all along the trek , though you would be getting packaged water all along the trek except few parts which you can buy.So it is advised to fill up your bottles in the hot springs sources or camps we would be staying in. We would carry zeoline for emergency purposes if required.

Accommodation – We would put ourselves in tents. During the stay kindly follow the local rules of the area and of the tents. Misbehavior, intoxication or any other means that may occur as unlawful or demeaning will not be tolerated.

Timeline – Desinomadz has fixed timeline and plan that need to be followed rigorously.  Our Itinerary   will stay fixed and it needs to be followed with utmost care. It is designed in a way to give you the balance of ample amount of rest and exertion for the trek.

Trek leader – A trek leader will be accompanying you the entire stretch of the trek . You need to thoroughly listen to his/her direction at all times. Problems faced if any while on the trek should  immediately be informed to the trek leader and wait for his instructions.

Teamwork – You will be trekking as team with the trek leader at helm followed by the local guide. It is advised to stick together and share the common team vision and brotherhood as you go along. Be on the lookout for any problems faced by any other fellow trek mate and inform us. Moving as a unit makes the trek all the more , less tedious and more joyful.

Smoking, drinking or any other form of intoxication is not recommended during the trek. You would be trekking a lot and that puts your body under lot of toil and at that altitude you may feel nausea, vomiting and and many other health complications may arise. So its advised not to take any sort of intoxicating substances during the trek.

You are responsible for your safety – Though the trek to sandakphu is of moderate nature we strictly forbid any of our fellow trekkers to take shortcuts , stop at undesignated places without informing the trek leader. It is easy to get lost or get injured due to self made decisions. Listen and follow the trail taken by the trek leader and avoid putting unnecessary physical exertion to your body,it might cost you big time.

Prior to the start of the trek it is mandatory to sign and fill an agreement devised by us with your signature. It’s a standard level agreement consisting of your basic details and your agreement on the part that you are willing to take this trek in your own free will.

If a trip is called off at the last moment due to a natural calamity/unforeseen circumstances (like rains, earthquake, landslides, strike, bandh etc), Desi Nomadz will issue a trek voucher for the full amount. The voucher can be redeemed for the same trek or another trek in the next one year.

The cancellation charges are as under:

Cancellations prior to 30 days from the start of the trek — full refund.
Cancellation between 30 days and 20 days to the start of the trek — 50% refund.
Cancellation less than 20 days to the start of the trek — no refund.

Please note:

If service purchased with a voucher code, then voucher amount will be deducted from deposit amount while refund to customer.
In case of refund, there will be a deduction of bank charges (if applicable) from the total fee you have paid. Also, if you have opted for a trek insurance, the amount will not be refunded.

Detailed Itinerary

 <span> Day 1</span>Start trip from Dimapur to Kohima

Meet with trek leader at Dimapur. Before leaving, take stock of necessary things. This is where you can purchase additional supplies if need be. From here you will start the trip of 90 km distance towards Kohima. The estimated time to cover this trip is 2-3 hours, varies depending upon road condition. By a scheduled time in the evening, the team will reach to Kohima town and travelers will find their cozy stays post-dinner, as the team has to depart early in the next morning. Once you’ve unloaded, you can jump straight into the Parvati Kund, the hot water spring – a highlight of the trip. The sight of the snow-capped mountains, easily visible in the distance, are almost comical in their direct contrast to the warm water flowing around you. After your tiredness from the trek has been washed away, you are welcome to enjoy the scrumptious meal prepared for you, before retiring to your tents for the night. Lights out!

<span>Day 2</span>Kohima to Dzukou Valley base camp

8:00 AM – Wake up early. After refreshment, you’ll be served with breakfast. Hurry up to pack your backpack as we have to start the journey shortly. After breakfast, you will start your trip from Kigwema towards the cultural Vishwema village. This will be our start of the trek. We’ll start the trek by this trail & by afternoon its planned to reach to the Dzukou valley base. We’ll settle into here for the night.

<span> Day 3</span>Explore Dzukou valley

After the breakfast, We’ll explore the valley & spend the whole day here. Night stay in Dzukou valley.

<span> Day 4</span>Dzukou valley to Kisama village

After breakfast we’ll leave the valley and reach to Kisama village by afternoon. Enjoy the remaining day by witnessing the prestigious Horn Bill festival here. Night stay in the village.

<span> Day 5</span>Return back to Dimapur

After breakfast, we’ll spend the whole day here in the village. we’ll learn about Naga cultures, their life styles etc. Then after lunch we’ll start for Dimapur, as most of us will have their trains/ flights from Dimapur either in that night or the next day.

Included/Excluded

  • Accommodation and meals – Stay is included from Day 1 to Day 4 (Dimapur to Dimapur). Stay will be pre-booked in cottages / tents where ever applicable. 03 times Meals for the entire day (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
  • Permit Charges – All trekking permits and forest entry charges are included.
  • Services of an expert Trek Leader – All our trek leaders are experienced.
  • Transportation: All transportation charges from Dimapur to Dimapur.
  • Exploration of the Dzukou Valley.
  • Food during transit to and from the base camp – The trek fee does not include meals purchased during the journey Dimapur to Kohima & Vice versa.
  • Accommodation in Dimapur: Any accommodation in Dimapur will not be born by Desi Nomadz, since its an Ex- Dimapur trip. If anybody wants to stay an extra night in Dimapur it will be an exclusive choice.
  • ILP Charges: Very nominal ILP cost to be born by individuals.
  • Hornbill festival charges.
  • Backpack offloading charges – We don’t include porters in this trek since we believe this is an easy to moderate trek and trekkers will enjoy the beauties and carry their own bags in this trek. However if anyone wants to take porter that’s situational decision and that cost will not be considered into it.
  • In case of opting out from trek : If already the trek is ongoing and some one wishes to opt out from the trek due to some reasons and wishes to go back, the cost incurred will not be born by Desi Nomadz.
  • Anything apart from inclusions.

Yes, Desi Nomadz trekkers will be provided with tents.

Yes its a good trek as beginner trek.

The minimum age requirement for the trek is 10 years. If your child meets this criterion and is physically fit, you can bring her/him along.

A Desinomadz team consisting of a qualified Trek leader, local guide will be with you throughout the trek.

Camps have toilet facilities. Please use plain toilet paper and refrain from using wet wipes since these are not bio-degradable. We therefore advise our trekkers to carry their own toilet paper

Desinomadz uses a well planned menu suitable for its trekkers. Welcome snacks, dinner, breakfast will be served in the trek. Be advised not to eat your stomach full as it will wear you down during the trek. You may carry nuts and dry fruits, chocolates to go by.

We will inform you the must haves and have not’s prior to our trek which must be strictly followed with discipline. Each and every item on that list must checked and rechecked before joining the trek.
